Talk directly to your legislators about issues that affect you and your real estate appraisal business. ICAP will provide you talking points and assign you to a small group of appraisers to meet with your legislator.

ICAP’s Day educates appraisers and legislators about important issues affecting the appraisal profession. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the legislative process and get a “hands-on” lobbying experience of talking with state legislators about issues that affect you.

Lobby Day 2016

Topics for Lobby Day:

HB3333 Broker Market Analysis and Appraisal Recovery Fund:  Amends the Real Estate License Act of 2000 allowing Appraisers who hold a broker’s license to perform Broker Price Opinions.  Also establishes the Appraisal Management Company Recovery Fund that provides restitution to each State-certified general real estate or residential real estate appraiser who has suffered pecuniary loss, and to award to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation expenses, fines, or fees that have gone unpaid to the Department in certain circumstances.

HB5880 Appraisers – Registry Fee:  Provides that no appraisal management company may require an appraiser to pay the national registration fee required by the Appraisal Subcommittee.  This bill will likely be expanded to include other appraisal management company expenses which are charged to the appraiser and erode customary and reasonable fees.

HB5881
Real Estate Closing Documents
: Provides that in a real estate closing document in which real estate appraisal fees are shown, the fee paid to an appraiser shall be shown separately from the fee paid to an appraisal management company.
