President’s Message

From John C Satter, MAI, GAA

2022 ICAP President

Dear Illinois Appraiser,

For nearly 30 years, the Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professions (ICAP) has been representing the interests of Illinois real estate appraisers and providing continued education seminars. The coalition is comprised of 1,100 members from the ASA, CCAI, and ASFMRA sponsoring organizations and at large members. Together, the coalition works to stay informed and lobby the State of Illinois on issues impacting our profession. In addition, ICAP participates in several organizations influencing appraisal-related legislation and regulation at the national level.

Why should you join or renew your membership? In addition to staying informed in an ever changing environment with relevant email updates to our members, ICAP represents your interests at all Illinois Real Estate Appraisal Administration and Disciplinary Board meetings. In 2021, we worked with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) on the rewrite of the Real Estate Appraisal Act and Rules negotiating a strategic balancing of the board with additional certified residential board members and initiating a pre-screening of complaints by IDFPR board members.

ICAP members receive a discount on the popular summer seminars in Collinsville, Springfield, and Lisle. These programs focus on current topics, featuring practical appraisal applications along with legislative and IDFPR updates. As a member of ICAP, you’ll also have access to our Job Board, and board members, and outings including Lobby Day.

ICAP’s mission is to promote the appraisal profession and the industry’s image to the general public and to users of appraisal services. ICAP is committed to being on the forefront of protecting Illinois Appraisers, advancing the profession, and protecting the public trust.

Please consider including a PAC contribution with the 2022 membership dues payment. ICAP continues to promote and protect the interest of the appraisal profession in the Illinois General Assembly and need your support. Your PAC contributions are essential to ICAP remaining a strong political activist for appraisers in Illinois.

On behalf of the ICAP Board of Directors, we thank you for your continued membership, support, and participation and we look forward to serving you in 2022.

John C Satter, MAI, GAA
